“We will have our 15 minutes of fame”

I am the founder and CEO of Veoh. I believe in the power of media to influence every part of our lives, from teaching us about culture, to instilling ethics,to teaching us what’s cool or not. If you really stop and think about it, you will be shocked by how influential television has been in your life. Unfortunately, traditionally, broadcast media has been controlled by the privileged few, that have “greenlighted” what we get to see and what we don’t, and that is a very bad thing.

I believe in the power of the people. I believe that traditional media lacks diversity, and that empowering every one of us to participate in the media as creators and contributors, will make our world a better place to live. It will open our eyes to things that we would have never seen if media was controlled by a privileged few. Some of those things will be spectacularly beautiful while others may be the ugly side of life on our planet, but they will be yours to choose to watch or not. With this information the world will open its eyes to other cultures, genocides will be exposed quicker, politicians will be held accountable, and “we the people” will have a renewed meaning.

I believe that Andy Warhol was right… We will all have our 15 minutes of fame.
Traditional celebrities will be surrounded by a new breed of celebrities…some of them famous for only a couple of days. It was once said that “The revolution will/will not be televised”… I believe that “Television will be revolutionized through a democratized revolution.”

On a more personal note, I was born in Russia, grew up in Atlanta,and now spend my time between Los Angeles, San Diego, New York, and San Francisco (not a bad lifestyle ). .
